Drawn to Colour

While taking a summer art course at Concordia University in my native Montreal, a passing art professor looked at the finely rendered graphite sketch I was doing and remarked, "Very nice, but our world is in colour. Where is the colour?"

Although I still enjoy defining light and shadow in graphite drawings, his comments stuck with me and I have since opened up my work to embrace an endless fascination with colour.

My art education has included courses at the Royal Ontario Museum, the Art Gallery of Peterborough, the Buckhorn School of Fine Arts, and with artist Mary McLoughlin in Peterborough since 2014.

Following a career in Occupational Therapy, retirement has afforded me time to devote to my two passions, my family and my art. My supportive husband (guyridgwayphotography.com) has been instrumental in the resurgence of my creative spirit.

My work has sold at exhibits in Mississauga and Buckhorn, Ontario, as well as through private commissions.

As I explore a variety of subject matter in oils, acrylics, pastel and coloured pencils, I will continue to be drawn to the infinite palette of hues that nature has provided.

I hope you will enjoy my work.
